Teams for Clearmind

teams for clearmind

Before your first session, we want to make sure that you’re set up properly with Microsoft Teams, as that is how everything will be delivered. You’ll be able to chat, view files and materials, and join the live video session all from one desktop program.

You may or may not have already received a Teams invitation from Clearmind. Either way, follow the steps below if you’ve never used Teams before. If you run into any problems, please reach out to [email protected] for assistance.

*Tip: if you expected to receive a Teams invitation from Clearmind but don’t see it in your inbox, be sure to check your spam/junk folder.

*Note: even if you already use Teams, please note that you may need to create a new Teams account using the email address you’ve used to sign up for any Clearmind sessions/correspondence.

Downloading & installing teams

The first step to take is to download and install Microsoft Teams to the desktop or laptop that you will be using for any of the Clearmind Workshops. Click here to open a new tab for Teams. Once you get to this page, download the appropriate selection (desktop or mobile). Be sure to select the option for ‘Teams for work or school’.

If you are using Windows, you should be able to install the program by clicking it in the bottom bar of your web browser once it has downloaded. If you are using a Mac, run the installer by clicking on the program from your downloads folder. Once Teams is installed, it will automatically open and prompt you with a button to ‘Get started’.

Creating an account & logging in

When Teams opens up and you click on ‘Get started’ you will be prompted to log in to Microsoft. If you don’t already have an account, you can create one from this window as well. *Please make sure to create the account with the email address you have used to sign up for your Clearmind sessions/correspondence.* Once you’ve logged in, you will see an option on where to start. Here, you might see at least two options – one for your individual account, and another for Clearmind International Institute (Guest), this might also appear as a drop down menu. Select Clearmind.

The first time you access the Clearmind team, you will have a permission window pop up, requesting authorization for Clearmind to access your profile data, collect and log activity, and use the data being collected. Rest assured Clearmind will only use this data for business and session purposes, if at all. Click Accept.

Joining the team & viewing various items

Once the permissions have been accepted, Teams will log you in to the Clearmind group. A brief tour/tutorial will pop up. If you’re not familiar with Teams, spend a minute or two going through it!

Before you can access anything from Clearmind’s Teams, you will need to go back to your email and accept the invite that has been sent to you. Check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see the email in your inbox. The email sender will be Microsoft Teams. Open the email and click the button to ‘Open Microsoft Teams’.

If you’re using Windows, you will see a window like the one below. Select the checkbox to “Always allow…” and click ‘Open Microsoft Teams’.

If you’re using a Mac, a new window will open like the one below. Select ‘Allow’.

Once you’re finally in, your Teams should look something like the screenshot below (although it will probably have more chatter in the Chat channel by the time you join!).

Along the left side, you will see any workshops or sessions that you’re enrolled in. Along the top, you’ll see tabs for Posts (which is where the chat happens), Files (where you will find all of the necessary documents for your session or workshop), and Class Calendar (where you’ll see your sessions or workshops schedule).

When it comes time to join your session, just click on the Class Calendar tab, and click the ‘Join’ button beside the current session.
