The Summit Workshop

What is the Summit Workshop?

Group joins hands The Summit is our premier graduate workshop, which moves beyond process work into the infinite possibility of the present moment. In The Summit we come face to face with our own choice to enter the playing field of life, and experience what we claim we want the most.

One of the ego’s greatest ways to keep us ‘safe’ is to remain in the stands, simply observing life happening on the playing field. We can begin to think life ought to be comfortable and easy, and if it isn’t easy, then we must be on the wrong path. We dismiss relationships because we encounter head on obstacles and decide on another relationship that appears to promise a smoother ride. We can think that we ought to just receive abundance without having to ‘do’ anything at all aside from validate our worthiness. Thus, we sit comfortably in the stands waiting for life to somehow magically happen.

Our prerequisite Rude Awakening helped us to identify what is most important to us, what values we will choose to live by. This knowledge then commands action, or as A Course In Miracles describes it, demonstration. The nature of this work is to not simply to feel better, it is to extend this better feeling to the world. We have to give what we want to get. If we want success, we must promote success in others. If we want happiness we must make others happy. If we want excitement, we must be exciting. We must be what we want the world to be.

This workshop calls on us to be our own hero. It calls us to get up and enter the playing field, where we enter the experience, as opposed to the perception, of perfection in self and others. We discover the beauty inherent in our messy, difficult, imperfect lives.

What will I discover?

Possibility, Expression and Wonder. You will come face to face with your self, and make a commitment to being all that you can be in every moment in your relationships and with the world. You will discover the freedom, creativity and joy that come from being willing to get on the playing field and extend yourself to others.

People on steps In this workshop you leave the emotional processing behind. An assumption is made that you will carry on towards your goal dragging along with you any doubts and questions you have, but no longer allowing them to impede your progress. You have ‘made up you mind’ and can expect that this degree of certainty and curiosity for expansion will guide you through difficulty to the experience of celebration and fascination for life itself.

Without question, you will enter your own no-mans-land with nothing familiar to grab onto to keep you anchored to the predictable or the familiar. You can expect to discover faith, trust and thus creativity.

What can I expect?

The Summit is our premier graduate workshop, requiring participants to take the Awakening as a prerequisite. As in all of our workshops, this workshop achieves a balance between experience and understanding. It is an international workshop, with students coming to Vancouver during the summer from all over the world. There will be some free time throughout the week to relax, meditate and enjoy the pool, tennis court, trails and hot tub at our wonderful Springbrooke Retreat Center. While not required, we strongly recommend participants stay an extra week to assist part of the Rude Awakening the following week as this really anchors the intent and experience of this workshop.

The workshop is typically taught by two qualified facilitators, and features a number of trained assistants. The team is dedicated to providing you a safe, non-confrontational professionally delivered five day experience that prides itself on respecting the speed of which each participant decides to proceed. We ensure a therapeutically responsible and professional approach to the delivery of all of our programs.

Our facilitators are educated and registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) or the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA). Workshop assistants, who work under the direction of facilitators, receive in house training in responsible, ethical delivery of service. We adhere to our own Code of Ethics, as well as those of our associations.

The Summit is a five day workshop starting at dinner on Sunday and continuing until the end of the week. Most materials are provided, and you will be notified of extras to bring well in advance. The workshop is residential with food provided throughout the five days. Dress casually and comfortably for the workshop and be ready to meet the world.
